I have worked in the Air Medical industry for 27 years, both as a flight crew member and
executive leader and educator. I hold several degrees including an Nursing,
Respiratory Therapy, and a MS in Health Science with an emphasis in Health Policy. My graduate
research included the utilization of Air Medical resources and the impact on crew safety. I have
taught Crew Resource Management for 15 years and I am a Master TeamSTEPPS (Team
Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety) trainer. I hold a certificate in
Change Management, and I am Life Flight Networks primary educator for a Just Culture and
Human Factors principles and practice. I have lectured extensively at regional, state, and
national EMS, Air Medical, Aviation, and Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety conferences on
topics related to Highly Reliable Organizations, Just Culture, Human Organizational
Performance, Cognitive Bias, and Human Factors. My experience includes working in Quality
Management and Patient Safety at the executive level and creating a culture of reporting and transparency. I recently became a Certified Professional in Human Factors in Healthcare.
