Sue has worked with Air Methods for the last 11 years in full and part-time positions as a flight nurse and base educator in North and South Carolina and Virginia and currently as a Regional Clinical Educator in the Southeast Region.
She has 30 years of nursing experience in a variety of settings, from critical care, emergency, and ground transport, and 25 years as a paramedic with prehospital medicine. Most recently, she has worked at WakeMed Health and Hospitals in the Surgical Trauma ICU and Mobile Critical Care transport team. There she started as a ground transport nurse and was a member of the hospital’s inaugural flight team.
She currently serves as an ASTNA Board Member as President. She previously served on the ASTNA’s education committee and was chair. She has also served as an item writer for the CFRN/ CTRN exam for BCEN before becoming a member of the Exam Review and Construction Committee, where she served as chairperson for 2 years. Additionally, she has been published as a contributor of the ASTNA Critical Care Transport Certification Examination Review Manual
When she is not working or being involved with educational activities, she likes to cross-stitch and read, along with spending time with her husband, Pete and their 2 four-legged children, Harley and Hailey.
