Johanna Thompson is a seasoned flight paramedic, educator, and clinical logistics specialist with over a decade of experience in critical care transport. She currently serves with Life Link III in Bloomington, Minnesota, and contributes as a content writer and educator for FOAMfrat. From 2002 to 2023, she served as an adjunct EMS instructor at Northwood Technical College.
Johanna holds multiple specialty certifications through the IBSC, including Flight, Critical Care, Community, and Tactical Paramedic credentials, as well as Neonatal and Pediatric Transport certification through NCC. She is licensed in Wisconsin as an Instructor II and Tactical EMS provider.
In 2024, Johanna earned a Summa Cum Laude Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Northern Kentucky University, focusing on cultural, ethical, and global issues in healthcare. She previously earned her Associate of Science in Paramedicine with a 4.0 GPA.
She is an active member of the International College of Advanced Practice Paramedics, Air & Surface Transport Nurses Association, National Association of EMS Educators, and multiple state EMS associations. She is also an inductee of the National Society of Leadership and Success and the Society for Collegiate Leadership and Achievement.
Johanna has presented at national conferences including CCTMC and AMTC Elevate and was a 2022 Tim Hynes Award nominee. Her recognitions include the 2017 Essentia St. Mary’s STEMI Award and the 2024 Distinguished Service Award from Life Link III.
Dedicated to service, she has volunteered with Project Care Free Clinic and currently supports Haiti Air Ambulance. Her strengths include disaster management, leadership, education, and clinical operations, all of which she applies to advance prehospital care and EMS education.
