I'm Steve Bott, MD, and I'm a cardiac anesthesiologist at University of Utah, and also Assistant Medical Director here for AirMed. With my background in the cardiac OR, as well as my extensive experience as an air medical paramedic/nurse/physician, and assistant medical director, I'm an expert at managing right heart failure. Even with in the OR with a pulmonary artery catheter, TEE, Flolan, ECMO, a big room and a big team, including a surgeon, RV failure is a really challenging problem; much more so within the constraints of critical care transport environment. I'll try to share the lessons learned in the OR and ICU, and how we can use them in the air and on the road.
