Jeff Kotson is a 23-year veteran of the US Coast Guard serving as a rotary-wing pilot at air stations on Cape Cod Massachusetts, Sitka Alaska, and Astoria Oregon. At the pinnacle of his USCG aviation safety career, he was the Director of Safety at the Coast Guard Aircraft Repair and Supply Center in Elizabeth City North Carolina. His aviation safety background includes advanced/post-graduate education from The Naval Postgraduate School, USC, and Embry Riddle.
Since leaving the service, Jeff has flown privately on and off a yacht for a high value client, transported marine pilots to and from ships at the mouth of the Columbia River, and served as a single-pilot IFR EMS pilot for Life Flight Network in Oregon. Once off the line, Jeff served as the Director of Safety and Risk Management for Life Flight, specializing in human factors and accident investigation before retiring in 2021. In his semi-retirement, he works part-time (remote in Palm Springs, CA) as a Quality Manager for Life Flight Network.
