Dr Daykin has been a nurse for over 30 years with practice areas including pediatrics, pediatric emergency, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner and case management. She continues to practice part time in a free standing ED/UCC in Albuquerque but her full time position is at the University of New Mexico as the Director of the Sophomore Entry Nursing Program. Sara is a sought after speaker both nationally and internationally and presents on topics including disaster preparedness, pediatric emergency and leadership. She was recognized in 2024 as a Fellow of the Academy of Emergency Nurses for her work with rural communities to improve pediatric emergency care by provided remote education and support.
