Elevate Program Manager
LifeFlight of Maine
Bangor, Maine
Beth grew up in Newburgh, Maine. She went to Hampden Academy, and then Middlebury College, from which she graduated with a Bachelor's in East Asian Studies, which means that she could, at one point in time, speak Mandarin Chinese. After college, it took a while for Beth to figure out that being a therapist was her calling, but once she did, Beth went to New York University for her Master's in Social Work. She also eventually obtained her LADC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor) licensure.
Beth's transition to LifeFlight has been the culmination of many years of being involved with and passionate about the organization. In 2007, her family was in a float plane crash in Kezar Lake, and LifeFlight was called to transport her daughter to MMC. LifeFlight was a vital part of the team that saved her daughter's life. Since then, Beth has spoken in Bolton Hill meetings about safety, swum the Islesboro Crossing twice, done fundraising at various functions and even been interviewed about LifeFlight for TV news stories. She has also been part of the Foundation Board. Most recently, Beth was asked to build a mental health and wellness program for LifeFlight, and that is the endeavor that has created the opportunity to become a LifeFlight employee.
When not working, Beth's favorite ways to spend time are with her family, preferably outside and definitely where it is warm. She loves to travel, and to read; she spends as much time in the woods as possible. Beth grew up on a horse farm, and horses continue to be important in her life. She's always been active and works hard to stay healthy. Beth believes it is important to practice what she preaches, and that means practicing good self care, living mindfully and with gratitude.
