Founder of MeduPros | Flight Paramedic | Team USA Paralympian
Charles Swearingen is a nationally recognized flight paramedic, educator, and Paralympian with over two decades of experience in prehospital &critical care transport. Currently serving as a flight paramedic for a multi-helicopter level-one trauma center, Charles blends field expertise with a fierce dedication to advancing clinical education.
As the founder of MeduPros.com, Charles has spent the last 20+ years creating high-impact educational tools, courses, and books for medics & nurses looking to break into or level up in critical care transport. Known for his no-fluff, visually rich approach to teaching, he’s the mind behind best-selling guides like ECG Hero & Lab Hero, as well as the 250+ page study guide affectionately known as The Beast.
But Charles’ story isn’t all flight suits and stethoscopes. Born with bilateral fibular hemimelia, he’s worn prosthetics since infancy and never let that slow him down. He proudly represented Team USA in sitting volleyball for over a decade, including a roster spot at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio. His background as an elite athlete feeds into his relentless energy, disciplined mindset, and commitment to helping others push their limits.
Charles also serves on the board of several national charities, including Chive Charities, EMS Success, and Limbs for Life, where he advocates for underdogs, future prehospital providers, and amputees needing equitable access to mobility and healthcare resources, respectively. Whether he’s flying at 3,000 feet or teaching in front of 300 clinicians, Charles brings authenticity, expertise, and just the right amount of sarcasm to everything he does.
When he’s not in the air or on the mic, you’ll find him at happy hour flirting with his wife, chasing his daughters, writing new content, or rewriting protocols one lecture at a time.
