Garth has been a transporting paramedic for 19 years, working in both urban and rural environments. He has been a field training officer, deployed to wildland fires as a line medic and medical unit leader, and been a member of one of the only ambulance based backcountry and mountain rescue teams in the US. He has also worked on clinical protocol development, system and equipment improvement, and QA/QI. For the past 7 years, he has been a flight paramedic for Life Flight Network in western Oregon and SW Washington. He's an active member of the safety and evidence-based practice committees at LFN. He lives with his wife and three children in Portland.
