Mickey Sauser began his EMS career in 1977 as a volunteer with the local Fire/EMS service. After leaving farming, he completed the Paramedic Program and began working as a Paramedic in Sioux City, Iowa. In 1988, he transitioned to a Flight Paramedic position with Marian Air Care, later serving as the EMS Coordinator.
He went on to serve as an ER/Flight Paramedic with Lifeflight at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, continuing his flight career through subsequent acquisitions by Rocky Mountain Helicopters and Air Methods. In 2013, Mickey accepted the Program Director position with Med-Trans Corporation at their base in Sioux City, Iowa, where he currently oversees the nationally accredited CAMTS-certified Wings One Base program.
In addition to his leadership role, Mickey continues to work for Buena Vista County Paramedics in Storm Lake, Iowa, as a Critical Care Paramedic (CCP) and Quality Management Auditor. He has served on numerous state and local committees and boards within the EMS industry and currently holds positions as President of both the Iowa AAMS Chapter and Nebraska AAMS, as well as Chairman of the Woodbury County EMS Committee.
Mickey maintains his FP-C and CMTE certifications and holds CCP licensure in Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, Kansas, Missouri, and Wisconsin.
