Daniel Cheek, RN, MBA, BSN, CCRN, C-NPT, EMT-Paramedic, CMTE is a Pediatric/Neonatal Flight Registered Nurse for the University of North Carolina Health’s Carolina Air Care Transport Team. He has over 30 years of combined rotor wing, fixed wing and ground transport experience and has spent the last 18 years serving as a Pediatric/Neonatal Flight RN. Additionally, he also serves as a shift operations coordinator charge clinical position in the department and has worked at UNC since 2003 with time spent in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit prior to transitioning into this current role. He has served as an operations manager in the past and continues to help with various leadership responsibilities throughout the department. He has presented at the 2022, 2023, and 2024 Pediatric Hospital Medicine Conferences as well as the Pediatric Academic Societies Annual Conference in 2022. One of his proudest professional accomplishments while he served as the Operations Manager was leading the UNC Carolina Air Care Pediatric/Neonatal Transport Team and achieving the National Award for the Neonatal/Pediatric Transport Award of Excellence in 2017.
